About this docking station
The Microsoft Surface Dock (1st generation) from 2015 transforms your Surface device into a complete desktop workstation. Connect an ultra-HD external monitor via the DisplayPort output, attach peripherals through four USB 3.0 ports, and power your Surface with the integrated 90W charger—all from a single dock. Originally designed for the Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4 era, this first-generation dock remains a practical desk solution for users who need more ports and a stable charging base without the expense of newer models. Every refurbished unit has been tested for full functionality, graded for cosmetic condition, and backed by a 12-month Buyer Area warranty.
This dock delivers 90 watts of power to your Surface through the proprietary Surface Connect port, enough to charge a Surface Pro or Surface Book while driving external displays and peripherals. The 4096×2160 resolution support lets you connect a 4K monitor for design work, video editing or detailed spreadsheets. Four USB 3.0 ports handle mice, keyboards, external drives and other accessories, while Gigabit Ethernet provides a fast, stable wired network connection—essential for office environments where Wi-Fi isn't reliable. A 3.5mm audio jack routes sound to powered speakers or headphones, and the Kensington lock slot secures the dock to your desk. Refurbished stock is graded B, reflecting minor cosmetic signs of previous use on the casing; all ports and charging functions are tested and guaranteed to work.
Connectivity and expansion
The Microsoft Surface Dock (1st generation) turns a single Surface Connect port into a full desktop hub. Four USB 3.0 ports mean you can connect a keyboard, mouse, external hard drive and USB headset simultaneously, with transfer speeds up to 5 Gbps for fast file copies. Gigabit Ethernet delivers wired network performance up to 1000 Mbps, ideal for large file uploads, video calls or environments with congested wireless networks. The 3.5mm audio output supports headphones or external speakers, and the lock slot accepts standard Kensington cable locks to prevent theft in shared offices or hot-desking setups.
Display output and power delivery
With a maximum display resolution of 4096×2160, the dock supports a single 4K monitor through its video output, useful for creative professionals, accountants working with wide spreadsheets, or anyone who benefits from extra screen real estate. The 90W power supply charges your Surface device while you work, eliminating the need to carry a separate charger between home and office. Simply dock your Surface at the start of the day and undock when you leave—power and peripherals disconnect in one movement.
Who it suits
The Surface Dock (1st generation) is well-suited to office professionals who use a Surface Pro or Surface Book as their primary machine and want a permanent desk setup. It's also a practical choice for IT departments standardising on Surface hardware: one dock per desk means users can hot-desk without reconfiguring cables each time. Students and remote workers will appreciate the single-cable connection—attach the dock once, then plug in your Surface each morning without hunting for individual USB and power leads. Because this is the 2015 first-generation model, it's a cost-effective way to add ports and charging to older Surface devices without paying for features you may not need.

Is the Microsoft Surface Dock (1st generation) compatible with my Surface device?
The first-generation Surface Dock works with Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 4, Surface Pro (2017, 5th Gen), Surface Pro 6, Surface Book, Surface Book 2, and the original Surface Laptop (1st generation). All of these models use the magnetic Surface Connect port. Later Surface devices with USB-C or Thunderbolt may require the Surface Dock 2 instead. Check your Surface model before ordering to ensure compatibility.
What comes in the box with this dock?
You receive the Microsoft Surface Dock (1st generation) unit and the Surface Connect cable that attaches the dock to your Surface device. A 90W power adapter is sold separately and is not included with this docking station. If you need a compatible adapter, it is available as an optional add-on on our website.
Can I connect a 4K monitor to this dock?
Yes. The Surface Dock (1st generation) supports a maximum display resolution of 4096×2160, which covers standard 4K Ultra-HD monitors. Connect your monitor to the dock's video output, and your Surface will extend or mirror to the external display at up to 4K resolution. The dock can drive one external 4K display or two Full HD (1920×1080) displays simultaneously, depending on your Surface model and its graphics capabilities.
Does the dock charge my Surface while I use it?
Yes. The integrated 90-watt power supply charges your Surface through the Surface Connect port while you work, so you don't need to plug in a separate charger. The 90W output is sufficient for Surface Pro and Surface Book models to charge at full speed, even under heavy use. Simply connect your Surface to the dock and it will charge automatically.
What is the warranty and returns policy?
Every unit comes with a 12-month warranty covering faults. It excludes accidental damage and normal wear and tear.
Is this dock good for a home-office setup?
Yes. The Surface Dock (1st generation) is ideal for home or office desks where you want a single-cable connection. Dock your Surface each morning to charge it, connect a monitor, keyboard, mouse and Ethernet in one step, then undock in seconds when you need to move. The four USB 3.0 ports and Gigabit Ethernet make it well-suited to remote work, video calls and file transfers without relying on Wi-Fi or USB hubs.
